New-Home Inspection

How New Construction Inspections Work

If you’re thinking about building a new home, the inspection process is one you’ll want to carefully consider. A new construction inspection works differently than a standard home inspection. There are three different phases to make sure the entire process goes according to plan. Continue reading to learn more from the team at CalPro Inspection Group.

Pre-Pour Foundation Inspection

When the home's foundation is complete and the builder is prepared to pour concrete, the first stage of the new construction inspection procedure begins. Before concrete is poured over the excavated beams, reinforcing bars, plumbing, and post-tensioned cable system, the pre-pour inspection is intended to help spot-check the overall quality of work.

Framing Inspection

When the building is ready for the installation of the drywall and insulation, the second stage of new construction is carried out. Prior to the construction of the external cladding, inner insulation, and drywall, a frame or pre-cover examination is performed to look for any problems or subpar installation procedures. The possibility for examination is lost after those materials cover the interior and outside of the house. This phase is definitely one you do not want to miss.

Final Inspection

When the home is nearly finished, usually right when the builder is ready to do a final walk-through with the home buyer, the third and last phase of new construction is carried out. Prior to you purchasing the home from the builder, the final inspection serves to check that the major systems and components are installed in line with conventional model building standards and that there are no major faults that can be seen. This last check is crucial and strongly advised.
